The MEC of Cultural Affairs and Sport Dr Ivan Meyer has expressed his disappointment that a leading bank in South Africa does not provide IsiXhosa as a language option at its ATMs in the Western Cape.

The comment by the MEC follows months of debate around the Draft of South African Language Users Bill.

The Bill is expected to be tabled before the National Assembly later this year.

Department Spokesperson Daniel Johnson said that the MEC wants to encourage the implementation of the language policy of the Western Cape.

He added that the MEC acknowledges the language diversity of the Western Cape
