29-year-old suspect arrested with abalone in Skaapkraal

Western Cape police on Thursday arrested a 29-year-old man for being in possession of perlemon in Skaapkraal. 

The Mitchell’s Plain cluster tactical response team found bags of perlemon in a freezer in the bag yard. 

Police Spokesperson FC van Wyk said plastic bags 743 abalone worth an estimated street value of R120 000 were found.

“The 29 year old suspect will appear in the Athlone Magistrates Court soon, on charges relating to the possession of abalone.

“The Manager of the Mitchell’s Plain Police reiterated their appreciation for the commitment of the community structures in Mitchell’s Plain cluster; and emphasized that it is because of the trust between the community and police that we have such huge successes” van  Wyk added.
