Bank of Japan to open branches in South Africa

President Jacob Zuma on Monday announced at the Fifth Summit of the Tokyo International Conference African Development, that the Bank of Japan is to open a branch in South Africa.  

President Zuma said this is set explore business opportunities and in support of the economic development of the African Continent.

Zuma is expected to meet with the Japanese Prime Minister, Abe Shinzo to discuss the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries.

“We are pleased that government of Japan is actively encouraging its businesses to explore opportunities in South Africa and that was emphasized by the Chief Executive Officer of the Bank this morning to me when he told delegates that they have taken a decision to open their branch in South Africa and they do this with an understanding that SA is a getaway to the continent of Africa.
