Chairperson of the African Union Commission Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma briefed the media on Wednesday regarding several issues including the Special Summit on HIV/Aids, Malaria and Tuberculosis, the proposed ways and means for a better future in Africa within the framework of Agenda 2063 and a coordination unit dedicated to the Youth which will be created in the interim.

Dlamini Zuma said Africa should be less dependent and increasingly self reliant.

“Just are we are looking at alternate sources of funding, we are not saying donors should not donate, we accept their donations but we also say Africa must learn to be increasingly self reliant and reduce the dependency,” added Dlamini Zuma.

Furthermore Dlamini Zuma explains that this is possible and when one looks at what is happening today, we tend to forget that more than 60% of whatever infrastructure is going on, on the Continent right now, comes from our own resources.
