The Western Cape Department of Health said great efforts have been made to ensure that polio and measles are eradicated in the province.
In the Winelands about 90 percent of children were immunized for polio and in the Cape Winelands 102 percent of children were immunized for both polio and measles.
Cape Winelands District Department of Health Spokesperson Jo-Anne Otto said they would like to remind parents, guardians and crèches that the second round of the polio campaign will start on the 18th of June.
“All children who received polio drops in the previous round will receive the next follow-up drops; all children aged between 0 and 59 months will now receive the follow up drops” Otto added.
Otto also said that they are not doing measles this time.
