Human Settlements MEC to hand over first gap market housing

The Western Cape MEC of Human Settlements Bonginkosi Madikizela together with City of Cape Town Mayco Member for Human Settlements Councillor Thandeka Gcada and the Chairman of Power Construction Graham Power will be handing over the first gap market and open market units of Phase 1 of the Pelikan Park integrated housing Project today. 

Phase 1 will deliver 696 gap market houses and 300 open market houses.  Ministerial Spokesperson Bruce Oom explains that this is a very important project as it represents the City Of Cape’s largest integrated housing project and it includes houses for beneficiaries who are earning less than R3 500 a month and they will get free houses.

Oom added that for beneficiaries earning between R3 500 and R15 000 a month they will receive houses that are partially subsidized.

“People who want to buy houses on the open market and who earn mire than R15 000 a month, are also welcome,” Oom said.

He also mentioned that from the Western Cape government’s perspective these housing development’s, which include housing options for all spheres of the market for examples those who cannot afford to buy, those who can afford something and those  who can afford to pay the whole price are very important.
