The Electoral Commission said media groupings have agreed to consult members on voluntary guidelines for election coverage following IEC workshop.
The workshop was held to address the need for guidelines for media coverage of elections in South Africa
IEC Spokesperson Kate Bapela said the right of freedom of expression is without a doubt one of the most important rights in any democracy.
Bapela added that in two moths they are hoping in the next two they will be able to reconvene and find out the outcomes of the their consultation.
