On Friday the Minister of Arts and Culture Paul Mashatile attended the presentation of the base line study on the Khoi and San Heritage route.

Mashatile said the meeting is a bold step to correct the historical injustices against communities.

The Department will be embarking on a national consultative process to mobilize the country as a whole behind the goal of officializing all the Khoi and San languages.

Mack Lewele said that the purpose of the study was to look into the lives, the origins, the customs and the traditions of the Khoi and the San people.

“Their cultural and spiritual activities and things that happened brought us to say that we want to create the heritage route of the places that which the Khoi and San communities have been, what happened, what did they do and so on,” added Lewele.

He also said that they are working with the department of tourism and many other departments like land affairs to promote the heritage route.
