The Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers Union has set aside R25 million for a youth employment development programme.
This is Sactwu’s contribution towards the implementation of the Youth Employment Accord signed this year in April.
Sactwu’s Co-ordination officer Fachmy Abrahams said the package will help about 94 000 youth and children.
Abrahams said Sactwu has approved the programme over 3 years.
“The amount ranges from internships, experience in the industry, assistance through bursaries, through work place assistance as well as financial assistance for development over the three years” Abrahams added.
