Western Cape MEC of Transport and Public Works Robin Carlisle is calling on the Minister of Justice Jeff Radebe to reinstate the Name and Shame campaign of drunk drivers.

MEC Carlisle said through the campaign drinking and driving arrests had decreased from an average of 60 arrests per weekend to 25 arrests.

Carlisle added that since the Minister Radebe removed the campaign the death rate has increased and the number of people arrested for drunk driving has increased as well.

MEC Robin Carlisle said he has written to the minister and has requested an answer about reinstating the campaign in two weeks times.

Carlisle said if the minister does not respond within two weeks then he will declare an inter-departmental dispute with the minister.
