557 arrests made during May in Knysna

In the month of May Knysna Police arrested 557 suspects for various offences.  Captain Malcolm Pojie said some of the arrests were made during well planned crime prevention operations, stop-and-search operations, searches for outstanding wanted suspects and general high density patrols. 

Some of the arrests included 87 suspects for drug related offences, 20 for driving under the influence of alcohol and 12 for possession of dangerous weapon. 

Pojie said these arrests include for murder and other major crimes.

He added that there are also arrests for drug dealing and a lot of stolen property was confiscated.
