The Congress of South African Trade Union in the Western Cape said a possible strike regarding the increase in Metrorail fares is looming.

Metrorail announced it will increase its fares as from the 1st of July to support the region’s most immediate goal to effect visible and short-term improvements to improve customers travel experience.

Cosatu’s Tony Ehrenreich said the company is more concerned about increasing the train fares but their service is getting poor.

He added that Cosatu can not allow the exploitation of workers who have to pay more for tickets while they arrive very late at their places of work because of the company’s service.
