The Western Cape Department of Education said there is no excuse for late applications.

WCED MEC Debbie Schafer said while 99% of learner population is enrolled timeously, the 1% that applies late can cause disruptions to the system.

Schafer said it is the responsibility of parents to enrol their child on time.

Ministerial Spokesperson Bronagh Casey said some of the parents have failed to acknowledge that it was the their responsibility to enrol their children timeously the fact is however that there is no excuse for late applications and this is a message that we are taking to parents this year and the campaign that encourages them to enrol their child early for the 2015 school year.

“The 2015 admission process will start as early as March next year. Many parents have yet to enrol their children in school. The responsibility is on parents to ensure that their children/child are enrolled on time before the end of the previous school year and as soon as possible because there is no excuse for late applications,” Casey added.
