National Sea Rescue Institute together with Air Sea Rescue Swimmers responded to seven nautical miles off shore of Greenpoint to evacuate a 47 year old crewman sailing from Brazil to Singapore.

NSRI Spokesperson Craig Lambinon said it is alleged that the man suffered a heart attack on Friday morning.

He added that the vessel sailed closer towards Cape Town for the patient evacuation to take place.

Lambinon further added that the operation was completed in calm sea conditions with a 3 meter sea swell and light North Westerly wind. The patient was airlifted to Air force base and then transported to hospital by ships agents in a stable and satisfactory condition. Lambinon
