The Western Cape MEC of Transport and Public Works Robin Carlisle together with Metrorail Regional Manager Mthuthuzeli implemented the second phase of the CCTV level crossing camera, enforcement system in Buttskop.

This follows the tragic mini bus taxi accident in 2010 which killed 10 children.

International Level Crossing Awareness Day was commemorated on Tuesday.

Ministerial Spokesperson Siphesihle Dube said since project was launched 1379 fines have been issued and hopefully this campaign will assist in reducing road carnage.
