An investigation into the brutal attack of a 50-year-old woman by three policemen from Kraaifontein is underway.

The video which went viral on Wednesday shows the woman being assaulted by the police after she tried to break up a fight after her daughter was allegedly slapped by police.

Western Cape Police Commissioner Arno Lamoer said they have already identified the officer in the video.

Lamoer said the police officer was suspended last night and now the departmental processes will come into effect on this matter.

“As management we are totally disgusted by this type of behaviour of police officers and we will make sure that the law will take its course and that this will not be repeated” Lamoer added.
