Right2Know calls on key points to be made public

The Right2 Know Campaign has welcomed the ruling by the High Court in Johannesburg regarding national key points. 

The court ruled today that about 200 national keypoints need to be made public within 30 days.

Right2 Know last month in a statement said basic transparency is an important step in countering the uncontrolled secrecy and potential abuse of South Africa’s ‘national security’ policies.

Right2 Know’s Murray Hunter said said the Act is being abused by government.

Hunter said to undermine the public’s right to know and to shield certain institutions from public criticism.

“This is not only government institutions but apparently many institutions in the private sector as well Hunter added.
