The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union said it has noted and is against the bail application bid by three accused of murdering two police Constables near Modderfontein in March.

The two Constables were killed in a hail of bullets on the N3 highway. Popcru Spokesperson Richard Mamabolo said their actions on the day demonstrate that criminals will stop at nothing in accomplishing their ill-conceived deeds.

“On the basis of the severity of the crime they have committed and are being investigated for we feel that if they do get bail it’s highly possible that they might escape or commit other crimes.” Mamabolo added.

Mamabolo further said that it has been seen in the past that most of the people who were released on bail tend to continue with the criminal deeds they have been charged for.
