The Congress of the People is seeking clarity as to why President Zuma wants the National Director of Public Prosecutions Mxolisi Nxasana to be under a commission of inquiry.

COPE’s spokesperson Dennis Bloem says how did someone who needed top security clearance for appointment succeeded without the necessary clearance.

Bloem says that under President Zuma, the country has seen a considerable manipulation in the criminal justice system.

Bloem said why is it that the president wants to get rid of Nxasana, this man was appointed in August 2013 and since then an inquiry into his fitness to hold office has been visible.

Bloem said the Hawks, the police, the Independent police, the Investigative Directorate, all of them are in a mess because of political interference.

“We are saying the president must stop.” Bloem added.

*This morning the inquiry has been terminated.
