The Christian Democratic Party expressed concern with the violent protests breaking out in Cape Town.

They say it is disgustingly irresponsible for those who are blockading roads and on other ways preventing emergency services from reaching areas affected by the wet stormy weathers.

Eight were arrested on Monday in a protest for causing public violence.

Richard Botha of the CDP said that the influx of people to urban areas has for decades placed urban municipalities under pressure.

Botha also said that simply because of the frequent threats by the ANC Youth League to make the City ungovernable, that fuels suspicion that the riots in Cape Town are a political agenda.
