Western Cape MEC of Education Donald Grant said he disapproves of the over 61 students were went to protest at the provincial High Court on Tuesday during school hours.

The Western Cape High Court was on Tuesday hearing a review of Grant’s decision to close 20 of the 27 schools he had initially identified for possible closure last year.

The department said it is not against protesting but it should not be done during school hours.

Departmental Director of Communications Paddy Attwell said the aim of the closure of school is to improve opportunities for learners.
