A 26 year old man died and ten people were left homeless in separate fire incidents in Cape Town.

The fires occurred in Phillipi and another fire in Parkwood.

The City’s Disaster Response teams are assisting the survivors with supply of building material, blankets, clothing and food parcels.

Disaster Risk Management’s Wilfred Solomons-Johannes said that Tyrone Saal who died in the fire was trapped in his room during the blaze.

“It is unclear how the fire started, and the authorities will probe an investigation” Solomons-Johannes said.
