Media reports say National Planning Minister Trevor Manuel has decided to leave politics, as he decided not to persue his nomination for  a position in the African Nartional Congress National Executive Committee.

It is believed that he sees a deterioration in the culture of politics in the ruling party over leadership positions.
Manuel is said to be persuing a more mentoring role, as he thinks it is time for the younger generation to take over the politcal scene.
