Roadworkers in Westville, KwaZulu Natal found a new-born baby alive in bushes earlier today.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said when paramedics arrived they immediately assessed the baby boy finding no major injuries.

Meiring said after a brief assessment the boy was transferred to hospital for further treatment and observation.

“The baby was found by roadworkers who had spotted the baby in the bush. A woman who had been jogging nearby came to assist the workers by wrapping the baby in a towel” Meiring added.

The circumstances surrounding this incident are unknown and police are investigating and searching for the baby boy’s mother.
