LGBTQIA+ comunnity take a stand for change hours ahead of SONA

A non-profit Organisation called Iranti launched a social media campaign to get President Cyril Ramaphosa to pay attention to the queer community ahead of SONA with the #QueerSONA campaign launched to give people within the queer community an opportunity to advocate for themselves.

The LGBTQ community said they are bringing urgency to issues impacting their community and hope the President’s will publicly commit state officials as well as state resources to doing the crucial work of ensuring an end to the discrimination faced by LGBTIQIA+.

Ramaphosa is scheduled to give the most important presidential address on at 7pm on Thurday.  Mpo Buntse from access said that he hope the president signs the hate speech bill. "This is motivated by the fact that this this bill is the longest bill that been sitting in the house, with hate crimes again our community and the murders happening this is the urgency we talking about, and we believe the hate crime bill will do so much"
