The Youth members of the Congress of the People are calling on Mosiuoa Lekota to be expelled from Cope.

This comment comes from the criticism of Cope not being able to hold its first elective general congress.

Cope’s youth members also want Deidre Carter, Smuts Ngonyama, Phillip Dexter and Thozamile Botha to be expelled for bring the party into disrupte.

National Secretary Malusi Booi said "We believe that Mr Lekota and his cohorts can go and form their organisation if they feel so because everyone joins an organisation voluntarily."

Cope’s attempt at holding a second elective congress was spoiled by violence between supporters of Mosiuoa Lekota and Mbhazima Shilowa.
