One person died another critically injured in a collision on the R56 about 20km outside of Kokstad.
Emergency personnel were called out to the accident scene and found three vehicles involved in a collision.
One vehicles was lying on its roof and the structure been torn away on impact.
The driver of the vehicle was found trapped underneath the mangled wreckage of the vehicle and paramedics declared him dead at the scene.
A female occupant, who is believed to have been a passenger in the car that overturned, was found 30 meters from the accident scene.
She is in a critical condition after sustaining serious head trauma
