The Western Cape Department of Social Development said it will not tolerate children being abandoned no matter how dire their parent’s circumstances are.
This is after a toddler was found tied up and abandoned in a bush in Phillipi last week.

MEC Albert Fritz said a breakthrough has been made regarding this case.

We are very happy to announce that we have made a breakthrough with regard to the abandoned Phillippi toddler, a week ago.

We have profound a lot information from the community and the first thing was to arrest the mother of the child. The second thing was to place the child in safe custody. It is very good to know everything has worked out very well for the toddler
