Analyst condemns SANDF mass incarnation viral video

Helmoed Heitman the National security analyst expressed concern that the mass incineration of human bodies was unlawful and that it should not be classified as a war crime.

This after a video making rounds on social media where soldiers stationed in Mozambique are seen throwing a man’s corpse into a burning pile of bodies and arbitrary items.

In the video, it can be seen that atleast one member of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) standing close by.

In November last year, the Freedom Front Plus, along with other political parties, called on the South African National Defence Force to investigate the incident.

As it is not yet known why the video was made, Heitman said context was essential.

”We don't know exactly what happened before that, so we need to take that into account. There is a possibility that the patrol discovered the murder of a whole village, for example. I don't think it's technically a war crime, I think it's probably some sort of crime to dispose of a body in that way,” said the Helmoed Heitman the National security analyst.
