The Western Cape’s Police Oversight and Community Safety MEC, Reagen Allen, has applauded the work of the Law Enforcement Advancement Plan (Leap) officers in fighting crime in the province.
Leap officers are part of the
provincial safety plan. The plan aims to halve murders in the province.
Leap officers arrested 747
suspects for various crimes between December last year and January this year.
The suspects that were
arrested included:
12 for the possession of
illegal firearms
14 for the possession of
imitation firearms
51 for the possession of
dangerous weapons
501 for the possession of
drugs and
23 for the possession of
illegal ammunition
As LEAP officers also conducted
813 integrated operations.
“LEAP is not an island, and
these successes are not achieved by them alone. They work closely with other
City of Cape Town law enforcement agencies, SAPS, neighborhood watches and
Community Police Forums (CPF)s,” said Allen.
