Western Cape police in a joint operation with Provincial traffic arrested a 41-year-old female Correctional Service member on Tuesday, for suspected drug dealing.
According to police, drugs valued at over one million rand
were allegedly found in her house in Vanrhynsdorp.
The police’s Andrè Traut said a large sum of money believed
to be proceeds of the drug trafficking was recovered .
The 20-year-old daughter of the accused and two accomplices
were also detained.
‘’Members of the Provincial Traffic stopped a Mazda sedan
on the N7 between Vanrhynsdorp and Klawer and conducted a search which resulted
in the arrest of a 33-year-old Colgelese national suspect and a 21-year-old South
African with mandrax tablets valued at R51 600-00. This arrest and the
subsequent investigation led various SAPS units and Provincial Traffic to an
address in Vanrhynsdorp where a 41-year-old female and her 20-year-old daughter
were arrested with mandrax tablets and tik valued at more than R1,2 million,
and cash to the valued of R17 800-00, believed to be the proceeds of drug
trafficking,’’ said Colonel Andrè Traut.
Traut said the foursome will appear before the Vanrhynsdorp
court on Thursday.
