Civil Society groups hands over list to the city in protest of Bulelani Qolani

Civil society groups in Cape Town stopped traffic as they marched to the Civic Centre on Tuesday in support of a Khayelitsha resident who was seen dragged from his home back in July 2020, during lockdown.

The incident resulted in Bulelani Qolani suing the municipality for R1.4 million. The protestors marched to hand over a list of demands, as they accused the city of intimidating black working-class people.

According to Qolani he is suing for damages he sustained during his ordeal, when video footage went viral of the young man being dragged naked from the newly formed settlement.

According to reports about over 100 activists rallied for the demonstration. The protestors have been given 7 days before they can receive a respond.
