Parents and caregivers who applied on time for the 2024 school admissions in the Western Cape, has from Monday, viewed the outcome of their applications.

They have until 19 June to confirm their choice of school. Failure to do so, after this date, the WCED will automatically confirm the highest-ranked choice of school.

Education MEC, David Maynier said there is no need to panic.

‘’There will unfortunately be parents whose applications to schools were not successful at this point.  We know that this is extremely stressful and disappointing, but we are still very early in the placement process.’’

‘’Thousands of places are still going to open up. We have over 41 000 learners with more than one offer, allowing over 41 000 spaces to still become available once their chosen schools are confirmed,’’ he added.

The MEC said parents will be assisted throughout this entire process.

‘’So we do recommend that parents ask to be placed on the waiting list at the schools they applied to. Parents can also ask the School Governing Body to reconsider their application.’’

‘’If parents do not get a place for their child at any school by the time schools finalise placement in the next few months, we will of course assist them with a place,” added David Maynier, Western Cape Education MEC.
