Vermaak said Highway team arrived on the scene and found the two vehicles in
the middle of the road which had been closed to traffic by metro police.
Paramedics assessed the scene and found that one person was trapped. The
passenger of the car was seated up against the Armco barrier and covered in
blood.
Vermaak said the driver
of the light motor vehicle had a suspected broken leg and possible spinal
injuries. The passenger sustained a head injury and several lacerations. The
three patients from the bakkie sustained minor to moderated injuries.
He added that all
patients were stabilised on scene and transported to various
hospitals in the area for further medical care.
The exact details to the
cause of the accident are not known at this stage and the police are investigating.
