New ID Smart cards made easier for people with disabilities

The Department of Home Affairs has made processes for online application for the Smart ID cards easier for people with disabilities. 

The new Smart ID cards have Braille features which will help the visually impaired to easily differentiate the smart card from other similar cards.

Department of Home Affairs Deputy Minister Fatima Chohan said with the assistance of the people from the disabled community particularly blind people they were able to choose a design that is functional and allowed easy access and independence.

“They were very much part and passel of the whole concept and designing,” Chohan added.
