Cosatu take Vavi threat seriously

The Congress of South African Trade Unions is taking the allegations that there is a plot to kill its secretary, Zwelinzima Vavi, seriously Spokesperson Patrick Craven said.

Vavi was warned by intelligence chief Major-General Chris Ngcobo that there was an alleged plot to kill him by poisoning him.

Craven said “any kind of threat needs to be taken seriously, but it is difficult to take any preventative action when you don’t really know the real truth behind it”.

Craven said the warning may be bogus and may just be an attempt to intimidate Vavi and the Trade movement in taking a more cautious political stance.
