UCT to aid poor with fees

The University of Cape Town will make funds to the excess of R400 million available to fund poor and deserving students.

Parents who make less than R50 000 rand a year will only be expected to pay as llittle as R1 000 to their childrens tuition, and the university’s financial scheme would take care of the rest, the university’s vice-chancellor Dr Max Price said yesterday.

UCT spokesperson Patricia Lucas the University will cover almost the entire cost of studies.

“This, includes course fees, accommodation, food allowance, travel allowance, books and sundries” Lucas added
