Western Cape Education MEC Donald Grant on Thursday said the marking of the 2012 matric scripts was expected to wrapped today.

He said examiners were in the process of marking the last few exam papers. The results will be released by Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga on 3 January.

But grant says not everything has been completed just yet.

In 2011, the province achieved the highest pass rate of 82.9 percent.

The country managed a 70.2 percent pass rate.

MEC’s spokesperson Bronagh Casey said that the Western Cape Education Department will be wrapping up the marking process of the 2012 National Senior Certificate today.

Casey adds that the Departments mark Checkers, check the scripts as well as capturing the marks into the system and then the Department will be expecting the release of the Provincial and the National results on the 2nd of January by Minister Angie Motshekga and then the 3rd of January the Department will be releasing the results to schools so individual candidates can collect their results at twelve o’clock on the 3rd of January.
