Business leader Patrice Motsepe donates half of his millions

On Tuesday the CEO of the Motsepe foundation business leader Patrice Motsepe and his wife, Dr Precious Maloi Motsepe the Director of the foundation embarked on the 8th league of their road show.

 
In which they have pledged to give half of their own wealth to helping the less fortunate.

 
Motsepe said that the principal aim and object of the Motsepe Foundation is to establish a fund and organisation to provide funding and support for charitable, educational, religious, healthcare and other philanthropic projects and initiatives in order to fight poverty and improve the social and economic conditions of the poor, unemployed and marginalised persons and communities.

 
“The Motsepe Foundation envisions a nation in which everyone realises their potential and ultimately contributes to the building of South Africa and other African nations,” said Motsepe.

 
Furthermore he added that over the past 10 years, the Motsepe Foundation has undertaken numerous projects, including structural projects and capacity-building in schools, and made donations to religious and faith-based organisations and traditional leaders for their communities, women empowerment initiatives, as well as programmes relating to education and healthcare for women and the youth.

 
He explained that the Motsepe Foundation supports and encourages freedom, democracy and good governance in South Africa and that they also support meaningful and sustainable projects undertaken by local and international development organisations.

 
The foundation has pledged to donate an amount of R500 million to the Country over a period of 3 to 5 years and in this amount they have given the City of Cape Town a total of R12 million rand to use towards all and any programs and also to two Motsepe development forums relating to uplifting the community of Khaylitsha and Mitchells Plain.
