The Congress of South African Trade Union in the Western Cape has once again called for City of Cape Town’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security JP Smith to be fired.

Cosatu Provincial Spokesperson Tony Ehrenreich said the city is in a desperate crisis that needs to see a united effort in confronting the scourge of drugs and gangsterism that result in rising levels of criminality.

Ehrenreich said what we need is a leadership that is concerned about the people and focuses on people.

Ehrenreich added that JP Smith has been concerned about barking dogs and cell phones, he should be fired and replaced with someone who knows about policing and is there to work on hard issues.
