The Democratic Nursing Organization of South Africa in KwaZulu Natal has condemned the move by management of St Mary’s Hospital to close the facility.

The management filed papers with the high court to have the hospital closed as soon as possible.

Denosa Provincial Secretary Cassim Lekhoathi said the closure is ill-considered, lacks leadership insight and could have been avoided.

Lekhoathi said the closure of that hospital would affect millions of people who are dependent on that facility.

Lekhoathi further called on government to take over the hospital rather than to have it closed.
