The Congress of South African Trade Union in the Western Cape has expressed its outraged at the recent racial attacks against workers in the province.

The latest incident was a man was beaten with a sjambok after being mistaken for a robber in Rondebosch.

Cosatu’s Tony Ehrenreich said racism must be dealt with decisively if we are to end this type of continued abuse of black people.

Ehrenreich said Cosatu is unhappy that the Premier is saying nothing about this and that the police are not doing anything substantial.

“We are going to be taking the law into our own hands by carrying out citizens arrests and dealing with these racist whites who are assaulting workers on their way to work” Ehrenreich added.
