A 22-year-old man from Esikhaleni was on
Wednesday sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping a 12-year-old girl.
Police Spokesperson Colonel Jay Naicker
said the victim was raped in December last year at a New Years Eve celebration
in KwaZulu Natal
“The 12 year old girl had gone over to her
homestead whereby the suspect approached the
victim and raped her at the New Years Eve celebration and that was reported to
Police at Mthunzini and Empangeni Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual
Offence’s Unit took over the investigation.
The suspect was arrested and charged
following several court appearances he was convicted 20 years imprisonment,” Naicker
added.
