Western Cape MEC of Community Safety Dan
Plato has welcomed the arrest of ten police officers for alleged corruption,
through the work of Anti Corruption Unit.
The officials,
which includes a sergeant, eight Constables and one former employee have been
charged with corruption and fraud based at the Parow station.
In a statement Plato said these arrests
will be backed with through investigations in order for the accused to face
their day in court.
Ministerial Spokesperson Ewald Botha said
MEC Plato has commended the police for taking action against their own and
their transparency in dealing with the bad elements in the SAPS.
Botha said MEC Plato has emphasised that it
is everyone’s role to keep the SAPS accountable and that the public should
report any wrong doing or corruption of an officer to their local police
station.
