Western Cape MEC of Community Safety Dan Plato has welcomed the arrest of ten police officers for alleged corruption, through the work of Anti Corruption Unit.

The officials, which includes a sergeant, eight Constables and one former employee have been charged with corruption and fraud based at the Parow station.

In a statement Plato said these arrests will be backed with through investigations in order for the accused to face their day in court.

Ministerial Spokesperson Ewald Botha said MEC Plato has commended the police for taking action against their own and their transparency in dealing with the bad elements in the SAPS.

Botha said MEC Plato has emphasised that it is everyone’s role to keep the SAPS accountable and that the public should report any wrong doing or corruption of an officer to their local police station.
