The Road Accident Fund has published its RAF draft Amendment Bill for public comment.
The Bill will allow the Minister of Transport to draw up a list of serious injuries sustained from accidents, which will then enable victims who suffer these injuries to qualify to receive money for damages.

The draft bill also contains the introduction of a no-fault 30 day period.

RAF’s Senior Manager Chris Willemse said the purpose of the amendments is to facilitate faster claims payments and to reduce administration costs and to make our services more accessible to claims.

"Some of the amendments deal with fault and fault has been removed for an initial 30 day period in respect of clients for medical treatment and also for claims for funeral expenses," Willemse added.
