The South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry says the Copper Theft Barometer level increased to R13 million in September this year, from R12 million in August this year.

SACCI’s Pietman Roos said waste metal has been subjected to a domestic preference pricing system of 10 percent since September 2013.

The year has been volatile with the barometer ranging between R16.4 million and R10. 7 million.

The problem is that it seems as if there is a stabilisation of Copper Theft levels of R10 million per month, which in turn indicates that there is a stubborn crime levels of this metal.
