The body of an unidentified man who disappeared on Thursday at the V&A Waterfront was found in front of the Cape Grace Hotel.
The National Sea Rescue Institute spokesperson Craig Lambinon said, “Police divers found the man's body after security guards and bystanders saw him fall into the water.”
“Two sailors tried to rescue the man but he had already disappeared into the water,” he said.
“According to unconfirmed reports security guards may have attempted to prevent the victim from jumping into the water but it is not clear yet if the victim jumped or fell into the water,” he added.
An inquest docket into the man’s death has been opened.
