Metrorail workers could embark on another strike starting on Sunday if an agreement is not reached.
Satawu has today served the train operator with a formal notice to strike.
Satawu Regional Secretary Thandubuntu Roto said “We gave them 48 hour notice because what they have said is that before we can negotiate with them they must get instructions from their head office”.
On Wednesday the employees embarked on an illegal strike leaving hundreds of people stranded.
The union has warned if an agreement is not reached with Metrorail within 24 hours, staff in the Western Cape will again down tools this coming weekend.
