According to a survey South Africans will be saving money instead of spending money over the festive season.

The survey also showed that most people will be using their money to reduce personal debt.

And almost 80 percent of South Africans have decided to save money by staying home over the festive break instead of going away on holiday.

About 443 people were part of the nationwide survey conducted last month by online consumer credit rating service provider, Kudough.
