A fire at the Stellenbosch University campus has left one of it’s buildings badly damaged.
“The fire destroyed most of the roof and the third floor of the Wilcox-building,” says The University’s spokesperson Martin Viljoen.
No students were in the building when the fire broke out.
Rescued staff members were treated for shock.
The Wilcox-building houses the university archives, the Office for Postgraduate and International Relations and the department of Psychology and History.
No injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
